In this episode, James talks about why there are millions of people in jobs without pension plans, and why it’s important for companies to be offering pension plans to their employees and future talent.

James Pierlot’s Bio:
James Pierlot is the Chief Executive Officer of Blue Pier™, an innovative new pension solution that makes pension plan sponsorship practical for any employer, anywhere in Canada. A recognized thought leader on retirement-saving policy with public- and private-sector experience in the regulation and delivery of workplace retirement programs, Mr. Pierlot provides advice to policy makers and regulators and has authored numerous articles and peer-reviewed publications on pension policy. He has appeared as an expert witness before standing committees of the Senate of Canada and House of Commons and received the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal and the John Hanson Memorial Prize (Chicago Actuarial Foundation) for his published work and advocacy for better retirement income security.

Mr. Pierlot serves on the advisory committee of the Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario, is a member of the C.D. Howe Institute Pension Policy Council and a past-Chair of the Ontario Bar Association Pensions & Benefits Law Executive Committee. Mr. Pierlot speaks English and French and holds degrees in Taxation Law (Osgoode Hall), Droit Civil Civeel (Université de Montréal), Droit international et communautaire (Université d’Aix-Marseille III), Common Law (Osgoode Hall) and History (University of Western Ontario).
